The Life of GUS GEORGE GARVIS
Services for Gus George Garvis, 80, of 1128 Riverview Drive, who died at his home Tuesday of a stroke, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
Born in Kallathia, Greece, Mr. Garvis lived in Des Moines for 50 years. He was a member of the Order of Ahepa 192, Pioneer Gun Club, Izaak Walton League, YMCA, and the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; a son, George of Des Moines; a brother, Tom in Greece; a sister, Mrs. Helen Kousoudis in Greece; and three grandchildren.
A trisagion prayer service will be at 8 p.m. today at the Beaverdale Funeral Home.
The family suggets that any memorial contributions be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
