The Life of ROBERT J DOWD
Robert "Jack" Dowd, 64, of 7218 Maple Drive, Urbandale, died of cancer Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Dowd was born in Corydon and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He retired in 1989 as a claims manager with American International Insurance Co., was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Dawn Bowles of Panora and Kimberly Baker of Annapolis, MD; a son Jeffrey of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Pam Norelius of Johnston and Jackie Bryant of Des Moines; two stepsons, John Lockard of Urbandale and Brett Lockard of Fort Collins, CO; and 12 grandchildren.
Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made tot he Polk County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
