The Life of JAVA EDITH KELSO

Mrs. J. Edith Kelso, 82, of 1242 E. Twenty-first St. died Saturday at Broadlawns Polk County Hospital of burns suffered Thursday morning when her clothing caught fire. According to police, Mrs. Kelso was lighting a cigarette when her clothing ignited. She was found my a neighbor who called police, and Mrs. Kelso was hospitalized with second and third-degree burns.

Services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Kelso was born in Ottumwa and lived in Des Moines all her adult life.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Stephen and Mrs. Carolyn Fitzgerald, both of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Francis of Davenport; a brother, George Munckton of Oakland, CA, seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
