The Life of BURNESS MERLE CONRAD

Burness "Bud" Conrd, 73, of 7112 Oliver Smith Rd, Urbandale, died Tuesday following heart surgery in Rochester, MN.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with cremation following and private burial of the cremains at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Conrad was born in Clarke County and lived in the Des Moines area most of his life.  He had worked for Hyline, the Urbandale Post Office, Hy-Vee Food Stores and Kmart.  A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Lions Club and National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.

Surviving are his wife, Anita; three daughters, Sally Benson of Cordes Junction, AZ, Susan Risbeck of Des Moines and Sharon Hauge of Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Audrey Emerson of Springdle, AR, Marvel Jean Brown of Milwaukie, OR, and Beverly Custer of Livermore, CA; a brother, Charles Conrad of Ames; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
