The Life of VIRGIL H THRASHER

Virgil H. Thrasher, 71, of 2502 Williams St., died of a respiratory ailment Thursday at Des Moines General Hospital.  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sheridan Park United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Thrasher was born in Clarke County and had lived in Des Moines since 1942.  He was the retired owner of a Phillips 66 Station and of Thrasher''s Hardware on Hull Avenue and had been a member of the Methodist Church, Highland Park Businessmen''s Club and the Iowa Retail Hardware Association.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie; two sons, James and Alvin, both of Des Moines; two sisters, Corda Anderson of Allerton and Amy Lucille Kelderman of Des Moines; three brothers, Frank of Davenport, William of Knoxville and David of Des Moines; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.  Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
