The Life of ANTON VIGO JOHANNESEN

Anton "Tony" Vigo Johannesen, 72, of the 2500 block of Indianola Avenue, died of pneumonia Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 10 am Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Mr. Johannesen wsa born in Grand River and had lived in Des Moines the past 60 years. He retired as the chief electrician for Monarch Cement and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, a member of Knights of Columbus and American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Alice Joyce; three sons, GR and Daniel both of Des Moines, and Dennis of New Berlin, Wis.; a daughter, Toni Hammond of Waukee; two brothers, Gale of Woodville, Texas, and Donald Johnson of Casper, Wyo; two sisters, Hazel Tarr of Nixon, MO., and Donna Weeter of Des Moines; and nine grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Southtown Funeral Home, where 6:30 pm vigil service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to St Anthonly's Building Fund.
