The Life of CHARLES W KIENAST

Charles Kienast was born September 22, 1913 and died December 12, 2005.  He lived all his life in the Highland Park area and was a graduate of East High School.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mable, his wife, Mickey and brother Woody.

Chuck worked for the Ungle''s Bakery for over 30 years.  He and Mickey owned and operated a small neighborhood grocery store at 11th and Madison in Oak Park in the late 1950''s.  He worked for the Borden''s Dairy and retired from the Des Moines School Board.

Chuck was a Mason and a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge in Highland Park. 

Chuck and Mickey loved Arizona and spent their winters in Apache Junction at the Lost Dutchman, where they made many friends.

He is survived by his brother, Lon Kienast of AK; sister-in-law, Vera Casady of Norwalk; daughter, Marlene and husband Darrel Nordhadgen of Indianola; daughter, Sheilia and husband Ron Stevens of TN; grandchildren, Chris and wife, Kim Nordhagen, Tami Morris, Erica Moen, Nicole Churchill and Derek and wife Jennifer Nordhagen; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Alexa, Samantha, Amy, Randi, Kelsi, Josie and Riley; step-grandchildren, Michael Stevens, Lacey Skalicky and Shannon Melcher and step-great-grandchild, Tyler Skalicky.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2005, at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
