The Life of FRED WILLIAM FENZKE

Fred William Fenzke, 82, died Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4 at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Fred was born the son of Fred and Ida Starr Fenzke on June 17, 1921, in Cherokee, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving in the United States Army. On November 20, 1948, Fred married Isora Mary Rauch in Forest City, IA. They made their home in Des Moines. Fred was employed with the former Solar Aircraft Co. for 13 years, prior to working for the U.S. Postal Service for 22 years, until his retirement.

Fred was a life member of Beaverdale V.F.W. #9127 since 1971. He loved to travel and was an avid fan of both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Fred was thankful for his many friends, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Isora Fenzke; his brother, Wilbur M. Warburton and his wife Alta of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Fred was preceded into eternal life by his mother, three sisters, one brother and three brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3 at Westover Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to either Beaverdale V.F.W. #9127 or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
