The Life of MICHAEL ANASTASIOS VERGOS
Michael Anastasios Vergos, 65, of Leonardtown, Maryland, died April 20, 2005 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Maryland.
He was born August 7, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Anastasios George (Tom) Vergos, and Carla Vergos (Breiholz).
He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1957, continuing his education at De Vry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL. After serving in the United States Army for four years, he began his 33 year career with the United States Navy where he retired in 1996. After his retirement, he started a second career of traveling the United States in his motor home. He loved traveling with his wife, Debbie, and dog, "Boomer", cooking, playing poker, and was an avid horseracing fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie H. Vergos; his two children, Stacey (Bill) LoMedico of Santee, CA, and Thomas of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Christina Marie and Joseph Michael; and sister, Georgia Larson and brother-in-law, Larry Larson of Ankeny. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2005 at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the funeral home with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to East High School class of 1957 in his name.
