The Life of JOHN ROBERT NICHOL

John Robert Nichol, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, March 4, 2006.  John was born May 19, 1930 in Creston, Iowa, the son of John Wesley and Hazel Ellis Nichol.  Husband of 55 years to Reba Shaler and father to John Timothy (Jeannie) and Rebecca Marie (Gregg) Caddy and brother to Audrey Madison.


John was a 62 year member of First Presbyterian Church of Des Moines where he served as an Elder and Deacon over the years.  John was a gentle man of great faith, love and commitment to his family members and friends.

John served in the Navy on the LST1122 during the Korean War and later followed in his father''s footsteps as the President of the Nichol Insulation Company of West Des Moines.

John was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife; sister; children; five grandchildren, Sarah Roeder (Trevor), Ashley Nichol, Amy Nichol, Salome Nichol-Caddy and John Nichol-Caddy; one great-grandchild, Luke Roeder; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dolores Walker; niece, Michelle Bliss (Dirk) and nephews, Ray Hull and Robert Walk (Deborah); and many additional family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 3100 Easton Blvd.  Funeral services will be held at the church, Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 1 p.m.  Graveside services to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Please direct any memorial gifts to First Presbyterian Church.
