The Life of STEVE KRPAN

Steve Krpan, 90, passed away on April 24, 2005 at Taylor House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Steve was born December 11, 1914 in Iowa. He lived his childhood in Croatia, and moved to Des Moines in 1948. He served in the United States Army during WWII, and was a member of VFW Post Boline-Manfredi #9662. Steve worked as a welder at John Deere in Ankeny for 30 years and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #450. He was a member of St. Paul''s Lutheran Church, the Croatian Center and Lodge, and the Coratian Men''s Club. Steve enjoyed gardening and was a volunteer and interpreter for Bosnian refugees. He was very active in the Croatian Community. Steve is survived by his wife, Helen of Des Moines; son, Nick Krpan and his wife, Lynne of Des Moines; son, Larry Krpan and his wife, Sheri of West Des Moines; sister, Emma Liker of Urbandale; brother Tony Krpan and his wife Violet of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; brother, Dan Krpan and his wife, Eva of Zagreb, Croatia; sister, Mary Matovrnovic of Zagreb, Croatia; grandson, Lucas Krpan of Des Moines; granddaughter, Lauren Krpan of West Des Moines; and nephew, Steven Liker and his wife Bobbi of Urbandale. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Memorials may be made to the family.
