The Life of MELVIN A SMITH

Funeral services for Melvin A. Smith 80, of West Des Moines, will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday at West Des Moines Christain Chruch. Melvin retired from Firestone in 1985. He belonged to the Valley, Junction Ebenezer Encampment, and Canton Odd Fellow Lodges. He was a member of the Isaac Walton League, West Des Moines Christian Church, and the 310 Retirees Club. He will be missed by his wife, Colleen, sons, Marvin and Marion (Mike) step-son, Ben Marshall; his brothers, Harold and Zach; eight granchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. at West Des Moines Christian Church, with an Odd Fellows Service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to his church.
