The Life of JAMES R GARRISON

James R. Garrison, 71, of the 6700 Block of Northwest Fourth Court, Saylor Township, died of emphysema Tuesday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady''s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church of which he was a member.  Burial, with military rites, will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Garrison was born in Huntley, NE, and had lived in Toledo, Grinnell and Kearney, NB., before moving to Saylor Township seven years ago.  He worked for General Telephone 35 years before retiring.  He then owned Garrison Electric for 10 years.  He was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Pamela Talley of Des Moines and Beth McPherson of Earlham; a son, Anthony of Des Moines; a sister, Jana Vee Keogh of Hastings, NB; a brother, Gerald of Lincoln, NB; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the church, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.  Ankeny Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
