The Life of ARTHUR J CHAVANNES

Arthur J. Chavannes, Jr., of 230 Fifty-eighth St. died of cancer Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Chavannes, a lifelong resident of Des Moines, was a retired fireman.  He was a graduate of the American Institute of Business and a member of Daylight Masonic Lodge, the Des Moines Consistory and Cottage Grove Avenue United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Richard of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Hanna of Savannah, MO; a sister, Mrs. Jane Wheat of Milwaukee, WI; and three grandchildren.

The family suggest memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Cottage Grove Presbyterian Church.
