The Life of JILLENE ANN SMITH LONG

Jullene Ann Long, 41, of 1801 12th St. died of a gunshot wound Thursday at home. The death is under investigation as a homicide, and her husband, Gerald, has been arrested on first-degree murder charges. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southtown Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Long, a lifelong Des Moines resident, was employed by US West and was a member of the Communication Workers of America. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Glidewell of North Liberty; her mother, Dolores "Mic" Smith of Des Moines; and three sisters, Julie Cozad of Des Moines, Jan Thompson of Norwalk and Jody Shepard of Grimes. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jill Long Memorial fund at Telco Credit Union.
