The Life of LARRY GENE ROWLAND

Larry G. Rowland, 49, of the 4100 block of 78th Street, Urbandale, died of a kidney ailment Thursday at Veterans Medical Center in Iowa City.  Services will be a 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Rowland had lived in Des Moines all his life.  He was a disabled Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Disabled American Veterans.  He was an Eagle Scout and had received God and Contry dedication from Boy Scouts of America.  He was a model train and airplane enthusiast and an excellent pool shooter.

Survivors include his daughter, Shilo Thatcher of Cherokee; three sisters, Mary Johnson of Des Moines, Helen Fullerton of Kidder, MO, and Kathy Michaels of DeSoto; two brothers, Dennis Everett of Iowa and Alfred Galloway of Apoka, FL; his stepfather, Clayton Heyne of Grand River; five stepbrothers, Dean Heyne of Miami, FL, Lynn Heyne of Strawberry Plains, TN; Stan Heyne of Scranton, KS; Lorn Heyne of Washington, DC, and Alan Heyne of Warrensburg, MO; two stepsisters, Susan LaRue of Boone and Roxanne Heyne of Blockton; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
