The Life of ROBERT THOMAS WHITE Sr.

Robert Thomas White, Sr., 75, entered into eternal glory on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Hospice Taylor House on Hubbell.  Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens.  Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

Born in Hammond, Indiana, Robert was ten when his family moved to Des Moines.  He was a scheduler at Firestone for 33 years, retiring in 1985.  He enjoyed square dancing, clogging, visiting the senior center, entering contests and watching his grandchildren perform.  In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, coaching little league and playing slow-pitch softball.  Robert was a US Army veteran and attended Valley Evangelical Free Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Des Moines; sister, Kathryn (Bill) Graye of Albuquerque, NM; children, Debra (Doug) Reed of Norwalk, Cynthia (Ken) Messmaker of Granger and Robert, Jr. of Des Moines; stepchildren, Judy (Dwight) McClaskey of Des Moines and Julie (Steve) Reben of Pleasant Hill; four granchildren; nine step grandchildren; and ten great-step grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Central Iowa.
