The Life of JAMES L WOOD JR
James L. Wood, Jr. "Woody" was born February 8, 1960 to James Sr. and Madonna Wood at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, IA. James was taken from us on July 2, 2006 after a courageous battle with Leukemia. James was a devoted family man leaving behind his wife, Joanne of 25 years and two daughters; Abbie and Ashley.
James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, being outdoors, and was an avid NASCAR fan. James was employed at Casey''s General Stores as a grocery driver for 21 years. After retiring from Casey''s James then was employed as a residential supervisor for Halbrook Excavating in Ankeny.
James is also survived by his grandmother, Alma Davidson of Windsor Heights; parents, James Sr. and Madonna Wood; two brothers, Bill (Julie) Wood and Jeff (Angie) Wood; parents-in-law, Michael and Judy Schaffer; brother-in-law, Joe Schaffer, sister-in-law, Annette (Scott) Delaney; nieces, Linsey Delaney, Miranda Wood, Angie Thompson, Tracie (Noah) Amerson, Bailey and Jenna; and nephews, Alex Delaney and Christopher and Brady Thompson as well as numerous family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our lady''s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service at the church.
