The Life of ELMER LEONARD SAMPLE

Elmer Leonard Sample, 94, of 320 E Watrous Ave. died of cancer Wednesday at home. Services will be at noon Saturday at Southtown Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Sample was born in Stewartsville, MO and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a retired painter for the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Traders Local, of which he was a member. He also was a member of the Pioneer Columbus Senior Center. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Judith Leslie of West Des Moines; three sons, Frank of Des Moines, Thomas of Iowa City, and Leonard of Phoenix, AZ; four sisters, Edith Hoover of Devine, TX, Eveland Phillips of Cameron, MO, Ella Mary Erb of Osborne, MO, and Eleanor Hines of Noel, MO; and 13 grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
