The Life of HOWARD J KALE

Howard J. Kale, 80, of th 2600 block of East Garden Avenue died of congestive heart failure Sunday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Kale was born in Minnespolis.  He had lived in Ottumwa and California before returning to Des Moines in 1957.  He was a retired plumbing warehouseman for City Supply Corp.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion.  He was a dog trainer and worked with labs and english springer spaniel retrievers.  He enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Phyllis Huber of Des Moines and Barbara McMeen of Amana; a son, James of Des Moines; two sisters, Barbara McCrary of Mosby, MO., and Judy Thomas of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
