The Life of DAVID M SMITH
David M. Smith, 62, of 413 SW Westlawn Drive, Ankeny, died of a respiratory ailment Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady''s Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Smith, a retired lieutenant colonel and facilities manager with the Iowa Army National Guard, was born in Chicago and moved to Ankeny in 1975 from Council Bluffs. He was a member of the National Guard Association.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Susan Hannam of Urbandale; three sons, Tim of Elgin, Il, Phillip of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Matt of Urbandale; seven brothers, Tom of Woodbine, Dick of York, NB, Jim and Paul, both of Waterloo, Bob of Texas, Pete of Council Bluffs and Kevin of California; a sister, JoAnne Russell of Council Bluffs; and five grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
