The Life of MEL R BLUE

Mel R. Blue, 53, of Polk City died of a stroke Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Blue was born in Des Moines and lived in Polk City eight years.  He was a binder with R.R. Donnelley Co., an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Graphic Communication Union and the Mustang Club of Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; his parents, Ralph Blue of Coeur d''Alene, Idaho, and Lois Blue of Marshalltown; a sister, Carol Spencer of Dallas, TX; and two brothers, Tim of Marshalltown and Jack of Seattle.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
