The Life of EVA M LIGHT
Eva passed from this life Tuesday October 24, 2006. A visitation will be held Thursday October 26 at the Westover Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens on 2nd Avenue at 3 p.m. Friday.
Eva was born in West Plains, Missouri and moved to Des Moines at the early age of six. She graduated from North High School and American Business College.
Eva married C. Marvin Light on July 25, 1937. She was Secretary-Treasurer of Scott Transportation, a company her husband owned.
Eva’s family was her most utmost priority in her busy life. She traveled around the world missing only one country on her travels. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Past President of the Grace Lutheran Guild.
Eva was a member of Des Moines Chapter #89 of O.E.S., ZaGaZig Ladies Hospital Aux., Des Moines Film Club, The Friendship Force of Greater Des Moines, The White Shrine and Symphony Guild.
She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers, making arrangements for her beautiful dinner parties she hosted with joy. Eva loved shopping in Paris as her closet will testify.
Eva was a gentle, soft and loving mother to her daughter Marilyn, son Logan (Shirleen) Light and daughter Rosemary (Richard) Witzenburg. three grandchildren, Jeff, Lesley and Marvin, six great-grandchildren Stevie, Alex, Erica, Andrew, Alexis, and Reese, one great-great-grandchild, Hayden. Four step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren all living in Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents, her sister Hazel and her loving Aunt and Uncle, as well as dear friends and relatives.
