The Life of DONALD L BETHEL
Donald L. Bethel, 61, died Sunday, April 23, 2006 at home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Highland Park Christian Church with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens.
Donald was born June 8, 1944 to Donald E. and Ethel (Leary) Bethel in Des Moines. Donald formerly worked as a Commodities Broker and continued a strong interest in the market. He was trained as a counselor for chemical dependencies and worked in halfway houses and homeless shelters. Don was a recovering alcoholic for over 21 years and AA was a very important part of his life. He was a regular attendee at the Thusday noon meeting at Central Presbyterin Church.
Donald is survived by his mother, Ethel Bethel of Des Moines; three daughters, Marilyn (Jim) Clem of Sioux Falls, SC, Meredith (Chriss) Curtis of St. Charles, IA, and Amy Rademacher of Marshfield, MO; six grandchildren, Katy, Lindsey, Alex, Delaney, Cameron and Brody; three brothers, David (Pat) Bethel of Marshalltown, IA, Thomas (Julie) Bethel of Burnsville, MN and William (Amy) Bethel of Ankeny, IA; and a sister, Pamela (Jim) McBee of Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Bethel.
