The Life of HERSCHEL J PORTER
Services for Herschel J Porter, 71, 4508 Eighty-third St., who died of a heart ailment Saturday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Porter was born in Lorimor and lived in Des Moines for most of his life. He was a welder for Economy Forms Corp. until he retired in 1970. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union 493 and the Highland Park Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, a daughter, Karen Kauffman of Des Moines; a son, Jack of West Des Moines; his mother, Mary Porter of Des Moines, a brother, Blaine Porter of Anaheim, CA; and four grandchildren.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made the the American Diabetes Association.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
