The Life of ROBERT J VON AHNEN

Robert J. Von Ahnen, 72, of the 4200 block of Northeast 32nd Street died of leukemia Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church, of which he was a member.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Von Ahnen was born in Dunlap and had lived in Des Moines since 1953.  He was a retired mechanic with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., and a member of the National Rifle Association, Beaver Creek Plainsmen''s Association, National Muzzle Loaders Rifle Association and Steelworkers Local 310.

He is survived by his wife, Ardeth; three sons, James of Des Moines, Michael of Plano, TX, and Jeffrey of Marshalltown; three daughters, Vicki Naretta of Rockford, IL, Annette Von Ahnen of Des Moines, and Nancy Ridenour of Columbus, OH; 16 grandchldren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to his church or National Muzzle Loaders Rifle Association.
