The Life of FRANCIS DEAN HERRING

Francis Dean Herring, 73, of 201 SE East Lawn Drive, Ankeny, died of a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.  Services will be at noon Monday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Herring was born in Quicy Township in Adams County and had lived in Red Oak before moving to Ankeny in 1961.  He retired from the security department of Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Brain Injury Association of Iowa, Iowa State Fire Fighters Assocation, Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department and On With Life, Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Gary and Randall, both of Des Moines; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Ripperger of Indianola; two stepsons, Jeffrey Rabe of Meadow Vista, CA, and Robert Rabe of Greeley, CO; a brother Donald of Red Oak; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Brain Injury Association of Iowa or On With Life.
