The Life of WILBURN ADKINS

Wilburn "Red" Adkins, 81, of 1010 Franklin Ave. died of a heart attack Wednesday at Veterans Medical Center.  Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Adkins was born in New Sharon and lived in Des Moines most of his life, retiring as a security officer for the state of Iowa.  He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Polk City American Legion.

Among survivors are two sons, Wilburn Jr. of Des Moines and Jerry of Polk City; a daughter, Mary Kloster of Carlisle; a sister, Lucille McCoy of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will visit with friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
