The Life of HOWARD F GROFF

Howard F Groff, 69, of 145 Beech Blvd., Pleasant Hill, died of a heart attack Monday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Groff was born in Sioux City and lived in Pleasant Hill eight years after previously living in New York, Kansas and Des Moines. He retired as a district sales manager for Universal Match Corp. and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He had been a member of Baldwin-Patterson American Legion post and the Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Peggy; a daughter, Joanne Webster of Pleasant Hill; three sons, Randy of Wauconda, IL; John of Gurnee, IL; and Mark of Vienna, VA; four brothers, Bob of Sioux Fall, SD; Verne of Yeraing, NV; and Kenneth and John, both of Fort Dodge; and five grandchildren. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m.
