The Life of RICHARD L KENT
Richard L. Kent, 83, of 1171 Main St. died Monday at the University of Massachussets Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA.
He was born in Harris, MO, January 23, 1916, the son of Ora and Goldie (Spickard) Kent. He later moved to Des Moines, IA and lived there until moving to Leominster in 1947.
He graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, and earned a Master''s degree in music from New England Conservatory in Boston. He earned a Doctor of Music Arts from Boston University and did post graduate studies at Harvard University.
Mr. Kent was employed in the Fine Arts and Music Department of Fitchburg State College for thirty years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the American Choral Directors Association. He had many choral compositions published over the years.
Mr. Kent is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Lillian (Wallace) Kent, and one son, Michael K. Kent of Des Moines, IA.
Funeral Services is 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens. Interment is at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation is 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
