The Life of LELA MAE FLEMING
Lela Fleming, 94, formerly of Des Moines, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 at her home in Palm Springs. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM Saturday, February 3, at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel. Private internment is scheduled for a later date at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Lela Mae was a lifelong Des Moines resident before moving to Arizona and later Palm Springs. She was a graduate from Illinois Normal College with an associate degree in teaching. In 1938 she was united in marriage to Harlan “Boots” Fleming. She and her husband owned and operated Peggy??(TM)s for over 35 years.
Lela was a member of First Christian Church and was an active member of Cosmo Pals.
Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan “Boots”; parents, and brother, Max. She is survived by her son, John of Palm Springs, CA; and sister, Betty Vincent of Denver, CO.
