The Life of EDWIN JOYCE ALLEN
Funeral services for Edwin Joyce Allen, 83, of rural Van Meter will be held at 10 a.m. today at Westover Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Allen died Thursday at West Park Care Center in West Des Moines of a heart ailment.
A native of Des Moines, Mr. Allen had moved recently to Van Meter. He retired in 1964 from the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. He attended Drake University, where he was quarterback of the football team and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a son, Jack of Des Moines; two daughters, Sue Frigerio of Van Meter and Diane Lynn of Chicago, IL; a brother William James Allen of Des Moines; a sister, Mary Alt of Fremont, CA; and three grandsons.
