The Life of OSCAR D NICHOLS
Services for Oscar David Nichols, 80, of Lakeside, CA, a former Des Moines resident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Nichols died in Heartland Community Hospital in El Cajon, CA., after a month''s illness.
He was born in Yadkinville, NC and for 15 years lived in Mingo. He lived for two years in Des Moines before moving to California in 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; seven sons, Kenneth of LaMesa, CA, Arnold of Orange, CA, Leonard of Malcom, Wayne of Des Moines, Earl of San Diego, and Dale and Danny, both of Newton; three daughters Mrs. Florence Griffin of Lakeside, Mrs. Myrtle Hook of Fort Huachuca, AZ, and Mrs. Norma Melson of Santee, CA; three brothers, Frank of Marshalltown, Earl of Des Moines and Roy of Winston Salem, NC; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Kreger and Mrs. Rosie Palmer, both of Winston Salem; 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
