The Life of EDWARD HARRY LONG

Edward H. Long, 86, of Ankeny died October 16, 2010. He was born in Missouri Valley, IA, December 17, 1923. He retired as Finance President of Long Finance and was a realtor with Iowa Realty and Lundstrom Realty for 15 years. He was a veteran of WWII, the 9th Air Corps, where he received the French Diploma for his service to France, and a D Day veteran of Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Edward was a member of VFW Post 9662; Masonic Lodge #636, a 50-year member of Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, BPO Elk’s, and the Des Moines Consistory. He was also a member of Ankeny Golf and Country Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracia. He is survived by his brother, Max (Dorothy) Long of Laurel, MT, and their children, Kyle and Cheryl; his daughter, Sheila Marean of WDM; and three grandchildren, Jared, Kelly and Lee Marean. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Edward H. Long.
