The Life of LEILA VIOLA THOMPSON
Leila Thompson, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2725 Merle Hay Road, with interment in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church.
Leila was born on November 8, 1922, in Alton, Kansas the daughter of Jewel B. and Mina (Anderson) Shelton. She graduated from Ames High School and married Bob Thompson on June 16, 1956 in Des Moines.
Leila was a 50 year active member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Bob of Des Moines, daughter Lynne (Tom) Hoehamer of Des Moines, son Jack (Lauri) Thompson of Norwalk, grandchildren; Joe (Megan) Thompson, Sammi Thompson, Matt Hoehamer and his fiance Inisha Scott and Claire Hoehamer, one great- granddaughter Tenley Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Anne.
