The Life of FLORENCE MARGARET STOOKEY
Florence M. Stookey, 94, of Des Moines, Iowa, died at home Monday, May 24, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Home, East Sixth and Lyon streets in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Florence was born to Charles and Margaret Hendricks on December 25, 1915, in Des Moines. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. She married her high school sweetheart, James O. Stookey, and together they started their family. She enjoyed her life raising her children as a full-time homemaker.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; her brother, Charles; daughter Joy Knutson; and grandson Chris Johnson. She is survived by daughters Sandra (Bud) Johnson and Margaret Gaye (Harold) Mann; grandchildren James (Elaine) Knutson, Valerie (Nathan) Bradshaw, John Knutson, Tracy (Gordon) Simmons, Mark Johnson, Jeff (Cons) Johnson, Angie (Brian) Daniels, and Charles (Michelle) Flesher; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
