The Life of BILLY EUGENE MACKIN
Billy E. Mackin, 83, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. Bill was born on October 14, 1925 to Edward and Myrtle Mackin in Des Moines.
Billy was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and served in the United States Navy Air Corp until his honorable discharge. He was a member of the Norwoodville Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching adult Sunday school for many years.
Bill worked for Meredith Corporation as an electrotyper; following that he worked for Polk County as the Safety Director.
Billy is survived by wife of 63 years, Betty, daughters, Candice (Don) Crutchfield of Brookston, TX .; Lorrie (Robert) Hale of Minneapolis, MN.; Rebecca (Brook) Smith of Des Moines, sons, James (Cheryl) Mackin of Ackworth, GA.; Perry Mackin of Des Moines; a sister, Gloria (Leo “Bing”) Evans of Des Moines; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens 121 NW 60th Avenue, burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may visit with family from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Norwoodville Baptist Church in loving memory of Bill.
