The Life of IRMA JANE STUBBS

Irma Jane Stubbs, a long time resident of Rockwell City and Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on October 4, 2010, at Veteran’s Administration Nursing Facility in Ft. Thomas, KY. Irma Jane was born on November 1, 1920, in Rockwell City to Dwight and Gladys Leonard. She was married to Williams Stubbs for 36 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Stubbs, her sister, Mary Ann Hegna, her brother-in-law, Robert Hegna, her stepdaughter, Barbara Rudy, her niece Karen Henderson. She is survived by her granddaughter, Deb (Del) Christensen from Adel, Iowa; her great granddaughter, Mary Christensen, in Japan; her granddaughter, Nancy Rudy, of Des Moines, Iowa; her nephew, Leonard (Andrea) Hegna of Florence, KY; a niece, Maren Hegna, of Des Moines. She served for fifteen years in the United States Navy as a clerk and yeoman and was in the Reserves at Ft. Des Moines. She was employed by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Department of the Federal Government until she retired in 1973. After retirement, she served as a volunteer for the Red Cross plus the Lupus Foundation. She loved children, animals and just being with people. She had a kind and loving nature and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc – Iowa Chapter, Point of Grace Ministries in Waukee, Iowa, and IO-WA-VETS Central Unit #84. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Des Moines, Iowa, from 10:00 am to noon with the service at noon at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. The burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
