The Life of HELEN LENORE RUSSELL
Helen Russell, 89, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 19, 2010. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at First Church of the Open Bible with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Helen was born May 2, 1921 in Beech, Iowa to Fern and Miles Conn. She was a member of First Church of the Open Bible and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She liked collecting antique dishes and dolls, reading, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Harry Robert (Bob); her son, Gary (Maggie) of Hoschton, GA; her daughter, Joyce (Ralph) Vance of Des Moines; her son, Robert (Terri) of Earlham; her son-in-law Chuck Maples of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her brother Richard (Linda) Conn of San Antonio, TX; and her sister-in-law Betty Conn of Pleasantville. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Rosalind Maples; her brothers, Robert, and William and his wife Elizabeth; her grandson Jeremy; and her great grandson David.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Helen.
