The Life of VERA F KOONS
Vera F. (Funk) Koons, 99, of Ankeny — formerly of Des Moines — died Sunday, July 25, 2009 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Vera has left this world to be with her Savior and to be with her husband, Carroll and her entire family that has preceded her in death. Her faith was strong; her love for her Savior was endless. She has no survivors. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carroll E. and her sisters, Lela (Funk) Harvey, Esther (Funk) Wallace, and Iva (Funk) Griffin). Vera was born on September 29, 1909 in Maxwell, Iowa to Emma May and William H. Funk. She was a graduate of East High School and a long time employee of the Des Moines Independent School System. Vera was a most gracious lady—one talented and creative in many ways. She was a charter member of Stover Memorial Church of the Brethren. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stover Church of the Brethren, 4100 6th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50313.
