The Life of DORTHA M BROWN WHITE

Dortha Brown White, 98, passed away on June 23, 2011. A private family graveside service was held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Highland Memory Gardens. Dortha was born in Ogden, Iowa on March 26, 1913 to Curtis and Pearle Rinehart. She grew up in Minnesota and returned to Iowa shortly after graduating from high school. Dortha married Raymond T. Brown in July of 1934 and together they lovingly raised two children, Joann and Jerry. Dortha worked as a Lab Technician for 42 years for Iowa Lutheran Hospital and later for Dr. Frazier. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known for creating personalized gifts and handmade cards for special occasions. Dortha was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church. Dortha was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Ray Brown; and by her second husband of 1-1/2 years, John White. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Joann Sargent; son, Jerry (Georgeann) Brown; granddaughters, Diane (Chuck) Cutler, Carole (Duke) Reichardt, Patricia (Kelly) Housby, Tawny Brown, Pam (Les) Mallard, Linda (Mike) Fann; 15 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by John’s daughters, Judy Ferin and Jan Courtney. Dortha’s family wishes to thank the staff at Arbor Springs and Hospice of Central Iowa for their loving care.
