The Life of MARGARET JANE NYGARD

Margaret “Margo” Nygard passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Kavanaugh House on 56th Street after a long battle with Leukemia. She was 78. Margo was born in Manning, Iowa to Hugo D. and Leatha (Comstock) Hansen on August 27, 1931. Visitation will be at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church at 66th and University on Monday, August 16th, 2010 from 9 to 11 AM, with the funeral at 11 AM. Margo graduated from Gray High School in Gray, Iowa with the class of 1949. She moved to Newton, where she learned the printing trade at Newton Manufacturing Company. She later worked for the State of Iowa as a printer in the Vital Statistics Department in Des Moines. She held various printing jobs, and owned her own business titled Margo’s Print Shoppe. Margo was married to Robert Nygard, who she loved dearly, on June 14, 1953. She loved all her family very much, spending as much time with them as possible. In her spare time, she loved to travel, fish, water ski and participate in synchronized swimming with the Citrus Park team in Florida during the winter months. Margo was active in her church and Eastern Star where she received her 50 year pin, which she was very proud of. She volunteered at the Lutheran Hospital’s Not New Shop for about 15 years and loved every minute of it. Margo is survived by her husband, Robert, one daughter, Marlene (Dave) Daubert, two grandchildren, Erin and Nathan Daubert, three siblings, Robert (Ruth) Hansen, Norman (Roni) Hansen and Lilith (Valgene) Kruse and sister-in-law, Mary Gaunt, as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Windsor Heights Lutheran, Kavanaugh House on 56th or a charity you choose.
