The Life of FRED JUNIOR SHAFFER
Fred Junior Shaffer, 79, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2007, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. A private graveside service will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Fred was born October 16, 1927, to David and Ocie Shaffer in Hiltons, VA. He served in the Army during WWII and the Korean War. Fred continued his service with 30 years in the Iowa National Guard as the Shop Chief of OMS7 and was a member of the Debra Heights Wesleyan Church.
Fred is survived by his children, Debbie (Steve) Schaffer of Ankeny, Allen (Ann) Shaffer of Prole, IA, Alice Kerr of Phoenix, AZ, Fred (Cyndee) Shaffer of Escandido, CA, Robert (Julia) Shaffer of Jefferson City, MO, Nitha Lou Olander of Portland, OR, and Dennis (Debbie) Shaffer of New Port News, VA; siblings, Willard, Eileen, Shirley, Betty, Carolyn, Donald, TJ, and Kenneth; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his wives, Lillian and Nitha; parents; and five brothers.
Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens.
