The Life of FLOYD F PERCY JR

Floyd F. Percy, Jr., 76, passed away July 21, in Roseville, CA. He was born in Grinnell, IA, graduated from Bondurant High School in 1952 and received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Iowa State University in 1956. After teaching thermodynamics at ISU, he worked for Grand Central Rocket Company (later Lockheed) in CA. That led to his working on the Strategic Weapons System with Air Research and Development Command in Washington, D.C. through the U.S. Air Force. In 1962 he returned to Lockheed, until moving his growing family back to Marshalltown, IA, in 1967. He worked for Lennox, then Fisher Controls for 25 years, then retired in 1996 and moved to Roseville, CA. He was a member of Marshalltown Noon Lions Club and 1st United Methodist Church. Throughout his life he loved farming and invented a variety of farming machinery devices. A private pilot, he treasured flying his small aircraft. His brother Dean Percy and sister Norma Bothe preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Myriam Duhem-Percy; daughter Katherine "Kitt" Percy of Lahaina, HI; twin sons, Lt. Col Robert (Julie) Percy of Roswell, GA and Richard (Mindy) Percy of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and daughter Jean (Dan) Percy Sweet of Johnston, IA; Myriam's children Alejandro, Rafael, and Myriam Ruiz de la Cuesta-Duhem; and eleven grandchildren. A memorial service is Wednesday, August 11, at 11 a.m., Meredith Drive Reformed Church in Des Moines. Internment at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to Bondurant High School.
