The Life of FRANCES JUANITA HEGGEN
Frances Juanita Heggen, 96, passed from this life on March 24, 2007 at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Grand View Lutheran Church in Des Moines, of which she was a member. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Frances was born on February 11, 1911 on a farm in Story County, Iowa to Frederick “Fred” Edwin and Signe Hectoria Mason Nelson. She had lived in Story County for 13 years, prior to moving to Des Moines 81 years ago. Frances was formerly employed in the Department of Public Safety for the State of Iowa. Prior to that, Frances was employed with Rollins Hosiery Mill as an Inspector and with Heaven to Seven Department Store both in Des Moines. She enjoyed family and church activities, raising African violets, cactus plants and gardening.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Alice (Wally) Romans of Ankeny and Mrs. Ruth (Ron) Hughes of West Des Moines; sister, Mrs. Laura Thoren of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Denise (Bob) Garrett, Scott Romans, John Hughes and Alyssia (Jon-Paul) Griffin; and two great-grandchildren, Megan and Jacob Garrett. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Heggen in 1981; and two sisters, Mae Dewey and Laurine Hinderhan.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 26, at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to either: Grand View Lutheran Church, Mill Pond Retirement Community or Iowa Health Hospice.
