The Life of DALE GILBERT ARTS

Dale Gilbert Arts, 66 of Ankeny passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital in Knoxvile IA, December 19, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. He was born in Des Moines and was the son of Gilbert and Hazel Arts. He Graduated from North High School in 1960 and attended Grandview and Drake University. He married Kathryn Olson April 16, 1966. Dale was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Qwest after 31 years of service. He was a member of Qwest Pioneers and Knights of Columbus. Dale enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, golfing, old cars, Caribbean cruises and vacationing with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; In-laws, Frances and Herb Olson; daughters Amy (Rob) Drew, Carrie (Jerry) Miller, Kristin (Scott) Wendl and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Hazel Arts. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2008 at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Dale will be remembered as a loving and devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Memorial Contributions can be made to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens is handling arrangements.
