The Life of MILDRED WARNER

Mildred Warner, 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, where she had resided since January 2009. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 28 at Urban Heights Evangelical Covenant Church 7605 Aurora Avenue, Urbandale. Visitation with a luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mildred was born August 4, 1916 in Des Moines, the daughter of John and Anna Erickson. She was a 1934 graduate of East High School. On March 28, 1937 she was united in marriage to Melvin Warner in Des Moines. Mildred lived in Des Moines most of her life and worked as a bookkeeper for the State of Iowa, until her retirement in 1976. Mildred was a member of Urban Heights Evangelical Covenant Church. She volunteered with the youth groups at church and enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Jack) Fike of Golden, CO and Darlene (Denny) Arnold of Lake Panorama; three grandchildren, Melinda (Greg) Augustine, Jim (Donna) Shattuck and Mike Shattuck; three great grandchildren, Blake, Tara and Meridith Shattuck; sister, Betty Manley and brothers, Raymond (Ruth) Erickson and Paul (Joyce) Erickson all of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin in 2002 and three brothers, Robert, Harold and Herbert. Memorials may be directed to Urban Heights Evangelical Covenant Church or Spurgeon Manor.
