The Life of DEAN EVERETT WILLIAMS

Dean E. Williams, 80, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, on November 20, 2009. He was born June 20, 1929, to Blanche Bothell and Arthur Williams in Malcom, Iowa, and raised by Arthur and Thelma Williams. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the North West Central Community of Christ Church, 3003 62 Street, Urbandale, IA, with burial to follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 8p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Dean graduated from East High School in June of 1947, and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Central Community of Christ Church where he served as a deacon from 1955 until present. Dean was a Treasurer for the Accent Neighborhood Association, worked for many years as an Accountant for Davenport Oil in Altoona for 28 years, and a Bookkeeper and a Cashier Attendant for Metro East Landfill from 1976 to 1991. He retired in 1991, but continued working as a private tax preparer. He was also an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels, delivered for local pharmacies, belonged to the Alumni Association for East High School, served on the local election board, loved sports, and frequently participated as a score keeper. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; sons Ivan (Kendra) Williams, John (Kristi) Williams, and Paul (Kathy) Williams; brothers Wayne (Vera) Williams, David (Carol) Carmer, and Larry Carmer; and 9 grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Lori. Memorials contributions may be directed toward the East High Alumni Association Scholarship, or the Central Community of Christ Church. >>
