The Life of GENE L HENDERSON

Gene Henderson, 92, died peacefully Friday, May 15, 2009. Gene was born in Gunnison, Utah and raised in Logan, Iowa. Gene and his wife, Marjorie moved to Des Moines in 1950. Married for 47 years, they had two children, Neil and Nan. Gene and Marjorie were members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Gene also served as a volunteer in the Optimist Club. He worked as a sales rep for a cleaning chemical manufacturer and developed his own janitorial service. Gene was a World War II veteran and a Prisoner of War of the Wake Island capture. Gene is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Neil Henderson, of Des Moines; his daughter, Nan (Ron) Sexton, Bolivar, MO; five grandchildren, Janeil Henderson, Colorado; Joey (Karen) Henderson, Des Moines; Bill Sexton, Florida; Jon Henderson, West Des Moines; Mike Sexton, Ames; and two great grandchildren, Sophia and Ava Henderson, Des Moines. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie. A fond remembrance of Gene's life will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation with family present will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Iowa Radio Reading Information Service, 100 E.
