The Life of MARVIN PAUL COFFIN Sr.

Marvin “Paul” Coffin Sr., 86, went to be with his Lord, Monday, February 4, 2008 at Taylor House Hospice.

Paul was born January 16, 1922 near Adel, Iowa to Clarence and Bertha Coffin. He married Maxine (Mickey) Marie McElvogue October 4, 1941. Mickey has been by his side for 67 years. They raised a loving family together, were loved by many friends and they served the Lord together in many wonderful ways. She walked with him and helped him through all his battles with health problems. They will always be together forever with the Lord.

Paul served in the Army in World War II, where he earned many metals including a purple heart with 2 Oak leaf clusters. He was a gentle man with quiet sincerity that touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was a house painter by trade with the wisdom and grace of kings.

Many people have told his children what a wonderful father they had. His children knew his deep love for them and loved him for who he was, what he taught them and how he loved them. They will deeply miss him but are relieved that he will not suffer any longer.

Mr. Coffin was the father of one of my best friends. He was a gentle man, devoted to his family, God and country. It was a pleasure to get to know him and occasionally provide him with veggies from my garden...therefore, I forever became known as "tomato lady" which I will always treasure. He was somewhat a "treasure" himself.
